Ordered on 5/15/2020 - EDD was 6/25/2020 - just got my delay notice this morning, delayed until 7/21/2020.
Alienware Aurora R11 Dark Side of the Moon chassis with High-Performance CPU Liquid Cooling with and 1000W Power Supply 2TB M.2 PCIe SSD (Boot) + 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s (Storage) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB GDDR6 (OC Ready) 10th Gen Intel Core i9 10900KF (10-Core, 20MB Cache, 3.7GHz to 5.3GHz w/Thermal Velocity Boost) Killer(TM) Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 (2x2) 802.11ax Wireless and Bluetooth 5.1 64GB Dual Channel HyperX FURY DDR4 XMP at 3200MHz Windows 10 Pro, 64bit English
You can order the same Aurora R11 today and it will show a delivery date of 8/3/2020 and it will also cost a few dollars more. I have seen unboxing videos of the Aurora R11 on YouTube so I know it's out there and being delivered.
Just venting on my part but Dell has known for weeks that they can't deliver the product and could have let me and everyone else who ordered know the estimated delay time was in months instead of days. I don't consider a banner on the order status page saying your delivery may be delayed sufficient.
Sorry for the vent but people ordering should be forewarned.
I have been reading this sub-forum for the last few weeks to keep up-to-date concerning potential hardware issues concerning the Alienware Aurora R11.
I must admit, I feel a little daunted by the increasing waiting period concerning production. However, I do understand the company needs to (1.) maintain just-in-time inventory practices and (2.) COVID-19 safety adherence. Similarly mentioned elsewhere on the forum, the increased recession has led to decreased labor and resource procurement to make the necessary hardware to, hence, manufacture the ordered PCs. I would not be surprised if Dell has had to contact new suppliers in the hope to bulk-order what they need to build the orders. Not, that they have, but this is just one potential example of what may be occurring.
I did reach out to customer support due to my concern. I was informed my particular order required parts they did not have presently in stock. Customer service further informed me they hoped to attain the necessary items by late June. Emphasis on hope, and not a literal confirmation, due to the pandemic situation. I found this honesty to be exemplary on their part and I thanked them for it.
Ordered the Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 Module – Dual-Band 2x2 Wi-Fi 6/11A, Bluetooth 5.1, M.2/NGFF (Gig+) from a third party.
Ordered Win 10 Professional from a third party.
Ordered a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti from a third party.
Some items there were ordered were not available during the configuration process via the date I ordered it, so I proceeded with alternative solutions instead of waiting. I am not wholly on top of the liquid cooling GPU concept, so if I am not happy with it, I’ll switch it out.
The KF was a chip intended to go out as a K, but on QC they found a defective graphics core or cores which made onboard graphics non-functional. So it just gets listed as a KF, graphics disabled, usually for a small price cut over the K. I doubt they'd give a free upgrade unless they ran out of KF stock.
And not to be confused with a KS, which would be a special edition binned chip that may be released later on after they've had a chance to collect the cream of the 10th gen production crop.
Your post made me look and noticed that in the Aurora R11 configurations now, it can be ordered with the 10th Gen Intel® Core™ i9 10900K (10-Core, 20MB Cache, 3.7GHz to 5.3GHz w/Thermal Velocity Boost). The 10th Gen Intel Core i9 10900KF (10-Core, 20MB Cache, 3.7GHz to 5.3GHz w/Thermal Velocity Boost) that I ordered is not offered as an option anymore.
The difference - K has Intel® UHD Graphics 630 built into processor, KF does not; otherwise the 2 processors are identical.
Makes me wonder what processor I will receive when I finally do get my computer.
After reading those Ryzen horror stories on Reddit about not seeing anything on the screen after building a PC and troubleshooting a bad graphics card meant having a spare one at hand, I think it's not a bad idea to have the iGPU around.
My 10900kf order was delayed till Aug 5th. Waiting again. When I looked at the other mfg of custom PC's.. they are all delayed
That's unfortunate but it's the reality we're living in now. Some are accepting and processing it better than others. While many may think that "hey, I saw xyz part available on Newegg", the fact is that computers are made up of hundreds of not thousands of little parts. You may have the CPU, graphics card, motherboard sitting in the storeroom but if you only have 27 out of 30 6-32 screws you need for a full assembly and your fastener supplier tells you that it's 3 weeks out before the new batch arrives at your door, you're well... screwed.
Congrats on that great news. Can't wait for the unboxing + internal reviews + pics.
In the meantime, I did come across this Asetek video concerning the GPU cooler on Youtube posted within the last day. It talks about the LC GPU hardware that was put into the R11.
Actually if you followed Asetek's chronicles with this new design, it took nearly 3 weeks since the R11 announcement for the production sample to reach their technical sales and marketing team in the Netherlands. So I'm pretty sure they have working samples but they are either sitting in crates in their China facility or all are given to waiting R11 customers.
Or it could be the case of NDA so that the customer solely gets the advantage and prevents others from copying through watching the videos.
Good evening! I wanted to provide an update to my earlier post within this thread concerning my Aurora R11 purchase. In short... it is an "oh my gosh, I received the last 3 6-32 screws needed to complete my PC" moment!
Items on Order Update:
Alienware Aurora R11: Ordered June 08th, Shipped June 25th, Receiving June 29th definitively.
Alienware Mechanical Gaming Keyboard – Mouse: Ordered June 26th, Shipped June 26th, Receiving June 29th definitively.
Long story short, I am highly ecstatic (and surprised) the Aurora R11 completed production and was shipped/picked up by FedEx tonight. I will admit, I am still pinching myself because I do not believe it! Also, since there has been an inquiry on photographing the liquid cooling GPU and the inside of the R11 chassis earlier within the thread. I will gladly provide images when I get the Aurora on Monday. In the meantime, I did come across this Asetek video concerning the GPU cooler on Youtube posted within the last day. It talks about the LC GPU hardware that was put into the R11.
I've seen orders with the 10900k ship already, I have the 10900kf that was initially offered.
I ordered since 5/14 but then got moved to late July. I have fear that it will get pushed back even more considering that maybe a second lockdown might occur. Should I cancel and place an order with a 10900k instead? What are you guys with the 10900kf order doing? Has anyone's with this cpu shipped?
If you do cancel and reorder there's a 10% coupon code available now on Dell's website for the Aurora. A number of people have cancelled to reorder with the coupon and saved some money, plus got the upgrade to the k.
