Aurora R12, 11900KF, will this 3600MHz ram work?
Hi All ,
would like to check with the community , will the below ram work as per intent with Alienware R12 11900KF ?
Model : CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3600MHz C18 Memory Kit
If it will not work , what is the worse i would expect and what is the best setting to do with ?

No, because that is 3600 MHz ram. R12 only supports up to 3400 MHz ram.
If you do use it, it might or might not work due to the XMP profiles being for 3600 MHz environments.
These boards are very picky when it comes to memory support.

Vanadiel is correct!
For all other Aurora R12 owner's =
* Open the sticky, "FAQ Alienware Desktops"

Actually...faster RAM can be used in a slower slot. It will simply use the lower clock speed. So it is possible that it could work given the same type of RAM. Dell doesn't test 3rd party RAM with their motherboards though so there's no way for certain to say that it will work or not. Theoretically it should...But in practice certain motherboards don't like to work with some RAM. Which is why motherboard manufacturers have a compatibility list.

Worst to expect: (1) no boot; (2) boot but BSODs or performance issues; (3) works, but downclocked to 2133/2400.
If you do try, start out with XMP and all OC disabled. Also, clear CMOS before booting with the new RAM.

Based on his post here it sounds like he was only able to get XMP 1 to work. https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware-Desktops/Aurora-R12-Unacceptable-BIOS-Z490-configuration-11th-Gen-Intel/td-p/7855848/page/12

Does anyone know why I wouldn’t have the option for xmp 2 in bios it only had xmp 1 enable or disable. I’ve tried every ram configuration as well"

Ive only gotten xmp 1 through all different ram configurations.. 3200-3600mhz 8-32gb even with the stock ram I bought with the machine. There’s only one option available, it’s the bios that’s broken. The ram @3600mhz works fine. I have two 16gb sticks in. It also says 32 gb@ 3600 MHz in task bar.. but if you arnt aware of the current ram issues you should look it up. There is supposed to be an update soon.

How did you set up this?

Go to bios and xmp it . But it will run at gear 2 which lead to high latency.
intel design it as intended to push higher ram speed but due to dell given old mobo chipstep therefore you could not select on gear 1

XMP profiles are stored on the ram itself not the bios, most kits only come with one XMP profile hence only having 1 XMP option in the bios to select, not a bios problem

Z490 has nothing to do with it. Go buy any other z490 on the market and they all support gear selection even the cheapest aftermarket z490. Gear 1 is standard 1:1 ratio which is the ratio all previous Gen has run its ram at, not being able to do Gear 2 on a z490 would make sense since it wasn't designed for Gear 2 in mind

What aftermarket ram (3400mhz) will work in the R12 11th gen MO? I have 3200 sticks now and want to upgrade. I currently have 4 3200 sticks (64gb)
Also can b die ram work in the r12 as well?

Further Analysis shows that with the right CPU, chip set ,motherboard , ram and bios that very high speed is rare but possible. However not with the Dell.
