Aurora R12, CPU temperature question
I have just started using my new Alienware Aurora R12 computer since a few days ago and I have noticed that the temperature of the CPU is hotter than what it normally should be.
I have a i7-11700F as my CPU.
With no or minimal load, my CPU is about 50 degrees Celsius, and while running a game or opening up a few applications, my CPU runs at about 85 degrees Celsius or higher.
I have adjusted my fan speeds so that the CPU runs at a slightly lower temperature (48 degrees Celsius for no to minimal load, 78 degrees Celsius for gaming), but I am not completely sure if I should continue running my fans at high speeds for fear of damaging the fans due to overuse.
Are these "normal" temperatures to be having on a brand-new computer, or should I look for different fans and/or contact Dell?

With air cooling those temperatures would be considered normal.

My R12's CPU throttles down as the temp reaches close to 100C while gaming. Stock air-cooled R12 w/ i7-11700F and stock 3060 ti video. The games are NOT that intensive (GW2, CoH). Oddly, it doesn't happen often when I play MS Flight Sim 2020 or X-Plane 11, which are much more graphics intensive. At this moment, my R12 shows 65C while typing this message.
I am not used to this as my "old" i7-3770k OC to 4GHz, liquid cooled and with an old GTX 1070 OC card never went over 75C.
The R12 works fine but I am concerned at these high temps. Granted, the over-temp protection is working, but should I even be that high? Seems like the R12 is pushing the limits with no headroom

The stock air cooler is in my opinion a poor cooling option. That is why you are seeing this temperature, especially in the R12 case which has poor airflow.
In my opinion, the R12 should only be ordered with liquid cooling due to the poor performing air cooler.
