I missed your replies! Thank you

Since posting, I ordered a pair of 16GB 3200 MHz HyperX Fury Sticks.

They showed up yesterday and I installed them tonight.

On the first boot, I got no video but I just let it sit for quite a while, powered on, as I had to make dinner.

After dinner, I followed these instructions found in another thread here posted by Kolytsin

https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware-Desktops/Aurora-R12-need-help-after-attempted-RAM-upgrade/td-p/7999324

1. Install RAM (did this earlier as stated)

2. Allowing it to sit at the black screen for 2 minutes --- (closer to 45 minutes in my case)

3. Pressing the Aurora R12 power button once.

4. Unplugged the power supply again. (I drained the flea power too)

5.  Waited 30 seconds. (probably had it off and de-powered for 2 minutes total)

6.  Pressed power button.

-> Worked like a charm

Task manager is recognizing 32GB of ram at 2933 MHz.

Next up is for me to figure out how to overclock it.

Got any tips or threads you can link me to?

thanks!

The only ones that are guaranteed to work are the OEM validated ones: Validated memory

Anything else might or might not work, and these machines are very picky when it comes to support for aftermarket (retail) ram.

Try these: CRUCIAL BALLISTIX BL2K16G32C16U4B

In most cases they will work.

Yes they run at 2933MHz. The challenge is to make them run at 3200MHz as they are supposed to run. For that speed I think you will have to try the Crucial RAM. And you should look at the timings as well: The RAM should run at least with 16-18-18-36 timing@3200MHz. These are the timings and speed the Crucial RAM offers in my R10 Ryzen Edition without any issues. I wasnt able to run these timings and speed with the aftermarket kingston RAM I tried first. You will have to set the voltage to 1.35V for that. The oem-memory is set to 1.2V.
