I have the air cooler than came with my R12 (bought it less than two weeks ago) and I am considering changing it for a liquid CPU cooler as the CPU throttles during gaming (non-overclocked). Temps reach ~100C very fast. I assume that "AIO" refers to liquid cooling

Now I had already read that post which dates back to 2021. I tried to find the MH0HN & ancillaries on Dell's site without any luck. Dell also says that the R12 does NOT support CPU liquid cooling, which I assume is wrong if some have already done it.

My question was to get help from those who have already made the move so that I can be prepared for any customization or challenges with the swap

Where do you buy the MH0HN?

are you currently using Dell low end air cooler and wants to upgrade to AIO, or do you already have Dell AIO but wants to switch to a non-Dell liquid cooler?

Most Aliens that upgrade to liquid cooling use the Corsair Hydro Series H60 (2018)

This should bolt right into your radiator cage. It comes with an SP Series fan, which may throw the startup error. The Corsair ML120 Pro  fan should not throw the startup error. If you are going to use a push/pull configuration, you will need four 30mm long (1.25 inches) 6/32 screws.

You will also need to obtain the VRM heatsink part # N1C1D . . . which does not come with the air cooled CPU. It looks like THIS

Thanks ... I am familiar with the Corsair H60 as I installed that on another computer a couple of years ago. Didn't know that it would work with the R12.

As for the N1C1D, why would I need it? Does the conversion to the liquid cool.er require this or is it to enhance the performance by providing cooling to the regulator modules too? 

With the CPU air cooling the fan blowing over the heatsink is also cooling the adjacent VRM (according to Dell). When you convert to liquid cooling there is no longer a fan moving air directly over the VRM, so the heatink is required to facilitate the dissipation of heat. It is necessary to have a good air flow regime in your case for this to function . . . so a push/pull configuration on the radiator and the addition of an upper front intake fan should be considered.

ProfessorW00d, Thanks for all your info on this forum.  I currently have a R12 and the H60 (2018) is only in stock on mars?  cant find one anywhere.  Do you know if the H60X model will work instead in the R12?

I'm guessing its the fans that will throw the errors so if I get the H60X with 2 ML120 Fans and do a push/pull setup, im hoping that will work for a upgrade? 

I'm getting a 0511 Fan not Detected - Pump Fan Failed error when doing the Pre-Boot support assist performance check...

Does this error mean just the fan is bad or too low of RPM or does it actually mean the Liquid cooler pump is bad?  in your experience?

Looks like the H60X may work . . . unfortunately Corsair does not display the radiator dimensions on their web site, and you would be paying for RGB frills that are not readily usable on your Aurora R12.  I think with the demise of the Corsair H60 (2018) series the new go-to 120mm AIO will be EVGA 120mm CL11 listed as "coming soon" on that web site . . . but available on Amazon and other retailers. This AIO cooler seems to be identical to the Alienware OEM cooler (Asetek).

Have we figured out the next best solution for the aio since the Corsair one is seemingly out of stock all the time or discontinued? Also commenting on here so I can be kept in the loop lol

@Cobaltstorm98​   Corsair H60X is available at BB but will have iCUE RGB that you probably cannot easily use. NZXT Kraken is and option, as well as the EVGA 120 CL11 For the EVGA option make sure you get the version with the OEM style pump head and not one with the hoses sticking straight out, which could be a problem with the PSU swingout contraption.

Of course if you are upgrading from air cooled you will also need the VRM heatsinks.

@Modified97TB​ Hi, did you figure it out if the iCUE H60x ELITE Liquid CPU Cooler + ML120 PRO 120mm works on an R12?
Also, why did you say "2 ML120 fans"? Do you need 2 of them?
And do you know if an AF120 ELITE would work instead of the ML120? (they are both 120mm and the AF120 is the newer model/version of the ML120)

@Axolloid​   Corsair H60x will work on the R12. ML120 Pro fans are no longer available. Two fans for a push/pull configuration (radiator sandwich). AF120 ELITE will likely throw the startup error. Give it a try. You can also try Arctic P12 Max PWM. Connect the pump tach cable to the CPU_FAN motherboard header.
