Aurora R12, no wired keyboard, no boot

I got my new Aurora R12 last week, not to mention the increased noise compared to my Aurora R11 desktop, but there has been another problem I have never faced before. I'm using Logitech wireless keyboard on this new Aurora R12 computer, when I press the power button, the Alienware logo show up on screen for about 1 second, then it went totally dark screen, the system is running but I can't get to Windows 10 login screen and the keyboard is not responding, so I have to turn off the computer, plug in a wired keyboard, then press the alienware power button, then I can get the system boots up and log into Windows 10 like it should. then I can unplug the wired keyboard and start using my Logitech wireless keyboard with no problem, I have been doing this steps every single day and it was annoying. I have another Aurora R11 desktop which connected to another logitech wireless keyboard and it has never encountered such issue.

does anyone have the same issue or anyone have an idea why this happening and a solution is very much appreciated.

See this post: Bluetooth Keyboard R12

That user had the same issue with Bluetooth and solved it by using the USB dongle instead.

I am thinking it might be some kind of issue with the BIOS and Bluetooth on the Aurora R12/R10, since it seems to work properly on the Aurora R11 in Bluetooth mode.

It could also be an issue with the Bluetooth module you selected when you purchased the machine, because there's options between the Killer and I believe DELL and INTEL when it comes to wireless options, and they all have their own implementation of Bluetooth, not even being the same versions.

im using bluetooth connection for this R12, however, my R11 is connected with another logi wireless keyboard with bluetooth as well and it has no problem at all.

Wireless or Bluetooth? Someone else reported issues like this over Bluetooth. They fixed it by using the Logitech Unifying USB receiver.

Firstly, thank you Vanadiel for brought up the post and this solution indeed works, with the Logi unifying receiver plugged in, I can now turn on the machine and load windows 10 with no problem.

for the bluetooth part, my R11 and R12 are both installed with the Killer Bluetooth at purchase, so I assume if this was not a issue for R11, it shouldn't for R12. because I chose the same options for these 2 machines except the CPU and Graphic cards.

I have a similar issue. I have a USB KB/Mouse switch selector to share two desktop computers with one kb and one mouse. The USB Switch selector is powered by USB. When both computers are switched off and there is no Power to the USB Switch selector, the AlienWare R12 will boot but nothing is shown on the display. The USB then has some power after the boot up but seems to need to be powered before the boot or during the boot phase.

On the other PC, there is a bios setting that I can enable/disable keyboard on boot check that resolves this issue.

Can the bios be updated on the AlienWare r12 to have the same option, disable keyboard check on bootup please?

Kind Regards

Jim

Same here. I don't suppose you've found a workaround?

I'm about to go and buy some cheap USB keyboard and keep it plugged in (or maybe it's a legitimate use-case for a rubber ducky USB drive.)
