Aurora R13 3080 Ti frequency problems
hello guys !
I bought an aurora R13 with an RTX 3080 Ti. It is working really well, except one or two annoying things
One of them is that my 3080 Ti is that, sometimes, while i'm already playing (not as often) or when I start a game (more often), the GPU frequencies are limiting at 780Mhz for the Core Clock and 1250 Mhz for the frequency Clock
The limitation sometimes goes away by itself after some several seconds, sometimes after some minutes or sometimes I have to restart the PC
It doesn't happen that often, but it does happen several times (pratically one time per day, sometimes more)
It happened with Out of the Box settings, and even with a little overclock the frequencies are still limited on the same amount : 780 Mhz and 1250 Mhz for the memory
(PS : it does not contain any adult image, i don't know why is IMGUR saying that)
as you can see, it even did it while AWCC was "testing" the OC settings !
I have been searching for this, I only found ONE thread on reddit talking about a similar issue...
Do you think my GPU is defective ? Thank you !

thank you for the fast answer !
it did happen again just right now, during like 10 seconds
the link speed status is not going down to 4x according to hwinfo, and it seems to be deactivated by default on my windows installation from alienware
thank you for the very fast answer !

Run GPUZ and have it show the power usage for your 2 8pin connectors

Sounds to me like a link state issue. When it drops the frequency down, does it also drop the link speed down from X16 to X4 or less?
If it does, you can try disabling link state power management under Windows power management.
It's a power savings feature for video cards and will automatically come on if not enough load is present on the video card. I always set mine to off as I do not care about power consumption, I care about performance.

I would verify the power savings feature for the windows power plan, to make sure it is not on.
If that all check out you could run the diagnostics to see if any error codes come up.

hi !
here is a very little GPU Z sensor log https://www.cjoint.com/c/LAutHKvHtwT
(you have to click on the little red button to download the text file)
just like thirty lines so you can see how it behaves as you asked... thank you !
