Aurora R13, PCIe x4 slot not working?

So, this is following up on the Elgato 4K60 mk.2 capture card not showing up when installed on the top x4 PCIe slot.  Been troubleshooting this with Elgato and at this point they haven't been able to find a reason it why it isn't working in the R13.

I finally fished out my NVME PCIe adapter, put a working NVME m.2 drive on it, and that isn't showing up at all either.  It's getting power, just as the Elgato card did, but isn't showing up as it does in the other system (same with the Elgato).

I'm on the latest 1.08 bios and I don't see any options to manage the PCIe slots.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Apparently the SB Z card does not work. He can put that in and determine if it works, or not. At least that would raise the question why it does not work and maybe he can somehow get a more comprehensive answer.

As far as I know Dell is only working on the Elgato card, but they have tested some Dell branded cards without an issue.

Maybe Victor can provide an update on the Elgato card?

I will bring this issue up this week and ask around to see if anybody has any updates. Hopefully someone from the engineering team can provide an update.

I think the 2 things people want to know is:

1. Is there an issue with some retail cards, or not? (Going by posts here there is)

2. If there is, will that be fixed with a future BIOS update, or is this by design?

I am wondering if it has to do with power restrictions put in place in many States. Same reason why you can only get a 750 Watt PSU maximum.

Well my Elgato card is taking up the same PCIe slot, though on my system my NVMe drives are on the Intel Volume Management device, which is controlled by the NVMe raid controller. Perhaps that is a change made on the i5 builds though it doesn't change the fact that NVMe still uses PCIe graphics lane, cause that is how the tech is supposed to work.

Doesn't have anything to do with power restrictions.  I don't see why LTT is being brought up in this thread to begin with.  He doesn't have anything to do with Dell troubleshooting.  We know the SB Z card isn't working already.  How is he to be the one to sit here and get Dell to work on other cards?

Earlier it was mentioned about the SB Z card getting power or not.  The elgato card, as well as the other PCIe to NVME adapter cards are getting power.

In reference to your list.

1. we already know that all the third party retail cards reported in this thread do NOT work on either of the x4 PCIe expansion slots.

2.  There is no way that the intentionally designed the system to not accept third party add-on cards.

I just ordered a SB Z card.  Not that it will do any good, but just to be thorough, I guess.

ok, keep us posted on what you find. The SB Z works on my R10 without any issues.

As to 1, yes we know that. Dell is only working on the Elgato card as far as I know and waiting on Elgato to troubleshoot. All the other cards reported as not working in this thread, they are not working on and I am doubtful they will test them since they only seem to be interested in testing Dell branded cards. To my knowledge they have not tested any retail cards beside the Elgato card.

As to 2, I am trying to figure that out since I have never encountered this. I am hoping a future BIOS update would fix the issue. But again, at this point we do not know what the issue exactly is?

I would test it myself as I have a SB Z card, but I have no R13 to test anything on.

It's frustrating to have 14 pages of communication and very little information on what exactly is the cause of this, and if this is fixable by a future BIOS update or by design and not fixable.

I think most owners would be less frustrated if they would know there's a fix in the works for this.

I am going to keep asking around, hopefully we get some updates soon.

Just to keep you guys up to date.

I got a pm from the lvl 3 support , i guess ?

and they wanted to put the SBZ card in and make a export from MSINFO.

I did that, also i made photos where u can see the odd spacing and that the card is pluged in.

They said "We are still waiting for an update from our internal team. We will keep you posted once we have an update"

All the cards that don't work on the R13 work on ALL my other systems.

Hi Wesleyg1,

you've contacted the Elgato Support?

Please give me your Ticketnumber.

Hi,

we bought the same system and tested our cards - they are also not working for us in that system.

Talked a bit to DELL-Chris M   right now we're waiting for your engineering.

The SB Z should glow red during Post, prior to any OS loading.

Very strange it is not even glowing.
