Aurora R4 ALX i7 - What motherboard?
Repairing and rebuilding an Aurora ALX R4 with what appears to be a faulty mobo. What is the part number I need to replace it?
I'd love to be able to say what I7 is in there, but without booting it I cant be sure. But it's either 3700k or 3970k I think.
In which case, would the motherboard be this one # 7JNHO ?
thanks

C5D9P is 7JNH0 (Sandy), 8FMMC is 0FPV4P (Ivy) according to expert on R4
*FPV4P: bios A08 (and later A09 / 10 / 11) already installed, Ivy capable, backward compatible with sandy cpu
*7JNH0: sandy capable, can run an Ivy cpu if it has bios A08 or higher; if bios is below A08, then need to install a sandy cpu 1st - use it to update bios to A08 (or higher) - then install ivy 4820k

I glanced at my reference too quickly. here is the corrected statement:
3970X, 3960X, and 3930K are all sandy-E cpu.
3700k does not exist.
3770k is a mainstream consumer series cpu for LGA1155 socket, not for LGA2011 socket of R4.
there is no 3970K, but there is 3970X.
formerly sandyb-E CPU:
(15M Cache, up to 4.00 GHz)
(10M Cache, up to 3.80 GHz)
(15M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz)
(12M Cache, up to 3.80 GHz)
formerly ivyb-E cpu
(15M Cache, up to 4.00 GHz)
(12M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz)
(10M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz)

ahhh, that does sound more familiar actually, thanks
I'm fairly certain i've got the 3930K then....meaning any of the motherboards are fine, with it being Sandy?
