Aurora R4 recovery issues

Hello

I have the Aurora R4 from2015. The other day, it crashed. I tried to use the Dell OS recovery tool and the Key in Cloud solution but neither worked.

For the OS Recovery tool, I get a message that the OS image for my service tag is not available.

For the Key in Cloud created the USB bootable drive but when I run the program, everything passes system tests but fails at the end because of an error message "cannot get SMART status" for the hard drive. I get the same message even when replaced with a new hard drive.

Any suggestions?

@BoxMover I get the same message even when replaced with a new hard drive

Per dell: "Key in the Cloud will not download any operating system image, and will not work for restoration with a blank hard drive."

Try a clean install on the new drive using installation media downloaded from Microsoft.

Thanks for the info. I still have the original drive and have not erased the other partitions still on the drive. I get the same SMART error when I used the original drive, which is why I thought It was ready to crashed, so I purchased a replacement drive. Maybe the original drive is still good? I tried to use the Dell Key Creator program with the original drive and still no luck. I ran disk check on the drive and could not find any errors.

Since I posted, I have received three emails from someone that claims to be my "virtual assistant", using the noreply@dellcommunity.dell.com email address and asking for my service tag. I have yet to reply since I have no idea who they are nor did they provide any information.

UPDATE:

I changed the BIOS settings to remove the RAID option for the hard drive and was able to get passed the "cannot get SMART status" but with my original hard drive, I get the error "unable to repair drive" and then the system reboots without making any changes and does not fully boot.

I tried to install a fresh version of Windows 10 on a new drive and it installs to a point. The system reboots with the new version of Windows 10, begins to perform updates and then the drive stops responding and screen goes blank but computer stays on. I left it on all night, thinking it might be updating still. The next morning it was still on with a blank screen. I tried the same with the original drive and get the same issue, hard drive stops and screen goes blank.

Still have no idea why someone is sending me a private message asking me for my Service Tag and claiming to be my "Virtual Assistant".

I am still not able to get a new disk from Dell using either the Dell OS Recovery Tool or the Dell Key Recovery.

This all started when my computer beeped a few times, then a long beep/tone and the screen froze. Since then, it would not boot. Is it possible that something else other than the hard drive, is the issue? MOBO? CPU?
