Aurora R4, which AWCC for Windows 10?
I recently wiped my drive on my Aurora R4 PC. After installing Windows 10 Home, I went to the Dell website to look for the latest AWCC (Alienware Command Center) but couldn't find one compatible with Windows 10. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Oh, wow, I didn't know that. This was a brand new PC I purchased from Fry's Electronics. The label on the back says Aurora R4. I have never swapped out nor added anything except Windows 10.
I do have 2 questions though besides this issue: 1.) Why did Dell support remove many of the drivers for the Aurora R4? (ie: the driver for the wireless/ Bluetooth card 1T1R); and 2.) What is the method to update my bios to A11? I've followed instructions to the letter, but I receive an error stating I need to update earlier versions first. However, I can't find those. Thanks for your help in all this.

0. In real-life, does it look like an Aurora-R4 or does it look like an Area51-R1 ?
1. It's considered "Legacy" by now.
a. Do you not see a Win-8/Win-10 driver here:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/alienware-aurora-r4/drivers
b. Have you tried using the supplied (by Windows and WindowsUpdate) Windows-10 driver?
2. Install all, in order. With flash drive from UEFI boot-environment.
They should have been listed individually
- or -
There should have been a link on this page that said "Previous Versions"
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=fkcd8&oscode=biosa&productcode=alienware-aurora-r4

Its a conspiracy against you personally.
@Tesla1856
and I do not work for dell and dont update the websites
I never explain I take you to the click this link and download the file.
The Drivers site is often messed up. I try to inform them when its broken but more often than not nobody seems to be listening.
If they worked for me they would be fired.
Termination for Cause.

My guess is that both AWCC files available on that Download page are the same ... AWCC for Desktops version 3.6.5.0 but just packaged differently ... but it is up to the OP to verify that.
But for all the BIOS update files to be missing all of a sudden (sans the final one) seems careless.
Too bad the "Dell backup FTP website" has been shut-down. So much for "redundancy backup precautions".

Ya know, I really appreciate all you are doing for me. Perhaps someone out there was nice enough to save the A05...A06...etc. it would be nicew if they could pass them along.
BTW...
I have the AWCC files, and was going to try to install them as they are the original files, but can't seem to find the setup file in the directory. These files were extracted when it was first installed brand new. Wonderful! When it rains, it pours.
My USB thumb drive is worthless sine I can't find the bios update files. Dell has really gone down the tubes. They only support the newest stuff. Older PC folks have to fend for themselves. They could have at the very least, left the driver files available.
Sorry for the rant and raving. It's my fault. I should have downloaded the all of the drivers and archived them.

1. Sure thing. I say it's still a good machine if it's mostly working ... as it's UEFI-based, has a recent Intel-i7, etc.
2. Lets hope so.
I've also reported the missing BIOS files issue to Dell. Let's give it a few days.
3. You would need the whole original installer.
Did you try uninstalling the first one, reboot, and then installing the alternate installer file: App_DT_AWCC3.6.5.0_W81_W7_Setup_P2X37_ZPE.EXE ?

Best way to update the bios is to use USB2 32 gig FAT32 device.
You make a BIOS Recovery flash drive and disconnect ALL storage devices so that when you invoke bios recovery it updates the bios to the correct version.

These are not expensive but only buy from retail like best buy or amazon because they are often counterfeited.

BIOS Recovery 3 from USB 2.0
The CTRL key + ESC key combination can be used to trigger BIOS Recovery on PCs where an external keyboard is the primary input. This applies to desktops, all-in-one and portable all-in-one PCs. The supported keyboard types on these devices are:
If your system is NOT in a working state, for example, a No Post/No Boot situation and the BIOS Recovery file is not on your HDD - It obviously won't be possible to attempt to flash the BIOS to add the BIOS Recovery file to the HDD. Fortunately, even in this condition, it's possible to use a recovery file on an external USB key.
To create an external USB key to perform BIOS recovery, you will need the following:
Creating the USB key:
Plug the USB key into the PC.
Press the Windows key + E to open File Explorer (also known as Windows Explorer).
Right-click on the USB drive and click Format.
Change the File system to FAT32.
Check the box next to Quick Format.
Click Start to being formatting the USB key.
Copy the BIOS file to the USB key.
Open Command prompt in administrator mode.
In Windows 10, Windows 8.1 or Windows 8 - Press the Windows key + X on the keyboard to open a power user menu and select Command Prompt (Admin)
In Windows 7 or Windows Vista - Click the Start button and type command prompt in the search box. Right-click cmd in the search results and select Run as administrator.
In the command prompt window, type cd x: and press the Enter key, where 'x' is the drive letter of the USB key.
You can find the drive letter of the USB key in File Explorer (also known as Windows Explorer)
Type dir and press the Enter key on the keyboard. You should see the name of the downloaded BIOS file.
Type ren XPS8930_1.1.16.exe BIOS_IMG.rcv and press the Enter key.
(Replace the XPS8930_1.1.16.exe with the name of the downloaded BIOS file.)

files found by google = Alienware Aurora R4 System BIOS (A05 AO7 etc), and link to Dell.com
A05 | A06 |A07 | A09 | A10
I'd probably try 5 > 7 > 9 > 11, flash each time / each version at your own risk, use a bootable flashdrive & boot into it, never kill the power during a flash even if it freezes up for 4hours, lol, let it go to completion or u risk bricking it
Firmware flash risks bricking / corrupting mthrbrd Bios chip, only flash to newer version if u need it to solve an issue, no issues mean u may not need to flash / risk brick etc

From my notes:
Naomi said incrementally, and she mentioned A05. Their doc mentioned A07.
Summarizing the above posts (and taking into account long history of flashing failures resulting in bricked motherboards), I would probably do it
this way ...
- Cross fingers
- Create USB that will allow it to be done outside of Windows
- Connect to good UPS (like APC).
- A05, A07, A09, A11 . Taking the time to boot to Windows and make sure machine is working between each one.
Good Luck.

As soon as I figure out how to make a flash drive that works, I'll do that. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get one to work.

Now, if I can only make a bootable flash drive to boot for windows 10! Hmmm, I tried the latest Rufus 3.13 .1730, both the regular and the portable. Looks like I need some extra files and to modify the config file. The Flash drive is a 2GB drive.
Someone mentioned to use an older version and the the files come with Rufus. didn't see any such files.
