Aurora R5, motherboard, CPU choices?

I currently have the above motherboard with and i3-6100 processor.  I'm currently trying to upgrade the processor and would like to know what would fit best for my motherboard?

you have an Aurora R5 motherboard sky lake Z170 chipset.  without bios update it supports 6th gen intel core i7, i5, and i3 cpu natively.  top i7 cpu is i7-6700 or 6700k for you.  top i5 would be 6600 or 6600k

Dell has not released bios update to support kaby lake (7th gen intel cpu) afaik.  In aurora R7 Z270 kaby lake is natively supported.

If that is an Aurora-R5 ...

Intel Core i7-6700 is what I would suggest you try. Yes, non-K because:
- your machine could have easily come that exact way
- you have no VRM heatsinks on that MB
- other reasons

I think it really needs a liquid-cooler if you are going to push it hard.

Oh, and if you want fast ... install a M.2/PCIe/NVMe-SSD as C-drive if you haven't already.
