Aurora R6, alternative to NVIDIA GeForce Titan X
Hello;
I purchased Aurora R6 with the default video card, GTX 1080 a few years ago with a plan to catch up with more powerful dual cards when they come down in price in time. I'm ready to upgrade now only to realize that NVIDIA GeForce Titan X sells for about the same as then, if not even more expensive now.
I don't pay attention to these things day-to-day, so I am not sure if this is because high-end cards don't depreciate as much, OR I'm being charged for rarity value for a faded-out-of-market model. Also, the online vendors that I've found are not familiar names, and I wouldn't know for sure if there is any risk involved in doing business with them as opposed to Amazon or Newegg.
Would there be a more contemporary alternative to Titan X?

Titan x maxwell, pascal, and xp, have all been discontinued. Also, people want the newer cards which, at the top, are better and offer the newest features like ray tracing. Absolutely no reason to pay original msrp retail for a maxwell or pascal card now. Really, like virtually nobody would drop $1200 on a Titan X these days even if MISB. Only reason to go that way is for a big discount on a used card. For new, you should look to a current gen 20 series RTX card for an upgrade. Or 30 should be coming out soon. You should also make sure you have the 850w gpu for a top of the line card like 2080s or 2080ti.

Also, the direct replacement is the Titan RTX.

Don't you have more "fans" to sell to OP?

2080ti appears to be one of the viable options. I have checked out RTX as well, and it looked as though by the time I put 2 of those for dual cards, after sales tax and all that, the GPU will exceed more than 2 and half times the value of my base system, which I think is a little too lopsided.
Thank you for your help!!!

Ugh yeah... as long as there's no competition in that space, GPU remains the priciest part of most desktop systems nowadays.
