Aurora R6, upgrade help advice

Hi, In my Alienware Aurora R6 that I bought almost 4 years ago, I have a GTX 1080. I would like to upgrade the GPU to an RTX 3080 or 3070. But I was told that I need to upgrade my PSU as well. I would also like to add more ram. Is all of this possible to be upgraded? (PSU, GPU, Ram)

Yes upgrade psu to aftermarket psu. Yes upgrade gpu but be mindful the 3080/3070 gpu are powerful heat generators. You may need to upgrade cooling in your case. you only need 16GB to run games. R6 has a ceiling of ram speed it can support (d/t Dell and chipset limitations). If you mean upgrade ram speed, there is not a lot you can do on this Dell platform. If you upgrade to 32GB, it does not make game run faster. R6 ram spec: 2400 MHz Up to HyperX FURY DDR4 XMP at 2667 MHz

Please list your current hardware config:

- Intel processor model ?
- Do you have Liquid-Cooling?
- Amount of RAM memory currently installed ?
- Power-Supply wattage/size ?

If you already have an Intel-i7, cpu Liquid-Cooling, 16gb RAM, and the Dell modular 850watt PS.

... just drop in the Nvidia GTX-3070 and you should be fine.

Get a normal-height card and you won't have to rip-out the triangular metal power-supply support piece.
