Aurora R7, BIOS upgrade, disable onboard audio

Bravo on the new R7 Bios update - I like the addition of Hyperthreading control (really?... ugh, I've always wanted it on...)

Anyhoo - I'm really waiting for an update that allows for better control over onboard devices - specifically onboard audio.  PLEASE, please, pretty please add an option to turn onboard audio OFF!  I want to be able to use my front panel audio analog jacks with an add-on audio card.

Please bump this thread if you agree.  Most are using the onboard Realtek audio, but trust me... you're missing out.  It's not that great.  Regardless is you like the onboard Realtek audio or not - wouldn't you agree having the option to not have it monopolize the front panel audio jacks be nice.

It's our 'hi-end' PC - we should be able to configure it how we like...

That would require a hardware-wiring change.

The cable actually fits the audio card - But, when the cable is disconnected from the motherboard the bios thinks there's a component failure and I get a boot error.  On my XPS 730X I could turn off the on-board audio in the bios and there wouldn't be any warning/error.

It's the annoying R7 system failure warning on boot that keeps me from using the front jacks - the wiring is the easy part.  just move the six-pin cable from the motherboard to the audio card...  works great - just as long as I never reboot, or put up with the error message.

Just wish we could turn off on-board devices like the audio and video.  Not sure why that's not an option.

1. Interesting. Also, you are brave with your new hardware.

2. I believe the reason for the no-video-disable is because of the architecture of the Intel CPU and the way the on-chip Intel-GPU works. Since video/audio are so closely matched/synced ... I think the no-audio-disable is collateral damage.

I have the exact same issue.  Installed a Soundblaster Z - hooked up the front panel audio cable to the new card - get an error message every time I reboot.  Control over on-board peripherals is a feature on pretty much every motherboard bios in the last 20 years, except for these Dell boards.  What gives?
