Aurora R7, GTX 1660 Super upgrade

I'm trying to upgrade my GPU from a 1050 ti to a 1660 super.

I've been told my power supply (460 watt) is enough to support this GPU so i went and bought one.

Went to connect it in and the connection that went into the motherboard to power the 1050 doesn't fit into the 1660's supplemented socket (it has a different combination of the 8 square and rounded pins).

Do i still need the power supply plugged into the motherboard when the 1660 has a seperate socket for power on it and what do i need to get to connect power to the new GPU? Please dont say a new power supply.

I tried to make this as understandable as i could, this is my first time diving into the workings of computers.

Thanks in advance

The cable connector you are looking for should be labeled P7, it is a 6+2, daisy-chained to a 6. You want the 6+2 connector.

It's a good thing that you weren't able to plug that EPS connector into the GPU, otherwise it would have been bye bye GPU.  But really, that would have fried the GPU.

Also, the cable you are looking for is in the metal box behind the PSU, in the swing out arm contraption.  You need a screwdriver, and to remove 2 screws, to access it.  All of the spare wires are bundled up back there.

This is the one you want to use, hold the 6+2 together when you plug it in  @GiggaGan

Thank you for answering this for me, turns out the cables are already in the computer. I just had to open up the pcu casing and they were all there already connected.
