1. For this to be happening in a magical way ... sounds like you have the Alienware Monitor connected by HDMI (which includes audio) or maybe even DisplayPort.

2. Connect them to computer's internal audio card, and switch your audio-output to the Internal audio card.

Hi @dgross,

Where do you have the speakers connected? Back or front?

Have you already tried to set the speakers as a default device in the audio settings?

Used speakers from 2011.

Test on different computer or MP3-Player.

Unfortunately I no longer have another computer to test on.  It went out the window as soon as I got the Alienware.

ANY information you can provide would be greatly appreciate!

I am not using HDMI but I am using the display port for my video connection.  Any other thoughts.  Thanks.  Doug

1. So, obviously ... using DisplayPort on monitors with built-in speakers (or speaker outputs) can carry audio as the Internet says.

Pretty sure this will over-ride or default to being the Primary audio source.

So, just use the Speaker Icon in the Task-Tray to select the on-board audio card instead for your Audio Playback Device. You can config Audio-Cards and Speakers in legacy Control-Panel/Sound.
