Hi @DraesMiran,

Unfortunately it is not supported.

Please let us know where you are seeing those reviews.

Hi!

Thanks for the quick reply.

http://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/alienware-aurora -- specifically mentions pulsing lights, etc.

Below, I have listed a number of reviews which all mention being able to control lighting effects, but don't specifically call out that there's no dynamic lighting. I don't typically consider changing a solid colored light to be an 'effect' although that's certainly on me. I think this, combined with the fact the FX software itself says that static lighting is only on laptops, caused my confusion.

Regardless, I didn't buy the PC because of shiny lights, I bought it because it is a solid machine and I'm happy with the purchase. If you should ever expand the FX capabilities though....that'd also be sweet.

Thanks!

Yes, some enhanced Alien-FX functionality has been stripped-out some-where over the years, and you are not the first to notice. The old Command Center/Alien-FX v2.8.x on my Aurora-R1 has more functionality.

My guess is it happened back with the Aurora-R5 (visualized MIO-Board code/ Architecture #2) back in 2014-2015.

We could chat about all that is missing, but its not coming back, so not sure its worth the time.

Just a quick question, when the PC was first booted, yesterday by the way, the thing had color dynamic RGB. After I tried to change the color scheme to what I liked more personally I cannot use color dynamics. What's the issue??

What version of Alienware Command Center are you running?

Not sure what "color dynamics" is. If you simply mean setting an AlienFX (LED color) Theme ... yes, that should work.

If machine is brand new, you can call Dell for assistance.

Mmmk, I have looked into everything to no avail. The most recent version of Command Center does not support color gradience/patterns/cycles? If no, could I possibly install a later version of CC to achieve this?

Hmm, well. Me being a complete dingus at the time, I could tell you the exact version of anything that I am running or which model of Aurora I happen to have other than an order number or something of the sort. Anyway, I really appreciate the speedy reply! I'll look into what version of everything I have, and then see what I can do from there. What happens to be the most recent version of the command/control center?

**edit** I can change a theme just fine, but I guess I used the term color dynamics wrong, my b. I meant to refer to RGB lighting that has the capability to change between colors without my interaction, like a constant cycle of gradient colors if you catch my drift. It happened between green, cyan and light blue when I first booted the thing up, but when I tried to customize that sequence, I ended up just starting over and now I cannot even make the original gradient.

**edit^2** I happen to have the most recent version of the Command Center, also, does this most recent one support color patterns/gradience?

1. Correct

2. No

So what is the solution here?  Are there any third-party mods that give full control of the lighting or any way to crack the original AlienFX to work on newer hardware?

Im also looking for a 3rd party app that will allow lighting that is past 1999

the reviews you saw were for the R8 which has a command center that is not made in the early 40s

This is the type of discussion thread I was looking for as my new Alienware X15 R2 is awesome but the software seems a step back from the older version on my  Alienware 17 R4.

To be blunt I am not interested in the limited number of pre-set options available or just static colour for each key option (I paid top dollar for the laptop and even on special was close to 6k AUD for the physical laptop (The price did include a few upgrades on the customization screen for more hard drive space and screen).

Being told that the newer model is more limited in functionality for Alienware's signature key lighting system seems very odd (and so far i can see that the pre-set allows for a colour rotation but it's just the pre-set options and there are not even a list of downloadable options to expand upon).

So this leaves me wondering about how i can downgrade or at the very least run a separate version of the older FX for the light control to get this functionality back?

Thanks in advance
