Aurora R7, SA CPU error 0511

My Alienware aurora r7 every time on boot up goes to the SA (supportassist) and runs a hardware check and every time it says cpu fan error and then my computer sounds like a jet engine. I checked my mother board and I don’t even have a CPU fan plugged into the cpu fan slot. Just a fan pump on the cpu and a top fan and a front fan. Anyone know how to fix this issue?

Are the fans and AIO cooler all Dell OEM or did you do some modification?

The problem originally happened with all the factory parts the computer came with. I got a new nocturna fan that I thought would solve the problem but it still kept giving my the cpu error.

Yes I have the liquid cooling aio. I originally put the nocturna on the front fan but I still got the cpu error so I moved it to the radiator and still the same error.

Do you have the AIO liquid cooling? If so, did you put the Noctua fan on the radiator, or elsewhere? Drop a photo of the inside of your rig.

I'm not sure why you would have an issue with the OEM fan. Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM will throw the startup error. The Corsair ML120 Pro should not throw the startup error. If you get the ML120 Pro you could run a push/pull configuration on your radiator with the Noctua fan and a Y-Splitter adapter cable. Alternatively, I believe if you hold down the ESC key when you press the power button the startup diagnostic test will be skipped.

Thank you. I held escape and no issues with temperatures. Problem is sometimes the cpu cooler won’t work and it shows that it’s getting 0 rpms. Then when I restart computer it will tell my my top fan now has no rpms but my cpu does and it just randomly picks which one will work.

Sounds like you might be getting some bad readings. If your temperatures are good then there is no way the AIO pump is 0 rpm. You can open the case to confirm your fans are spinning. Perhaps just keep a close watch in case this is an indication that your pump is going bad. If your temps are good and the ESC key prevents the startup error . . . enjoy your rig!
