Aurora R7, adding a second graphics card, #2
I am trying to do the same! I want to add another GTX 1080 video card but don’t know which one should I buy? Do I have to buy an identical card? If I want to do multi-device GPU?

Yes, you’re going to need an identical card. A 1070, for say, will not work with SLI, with your 1080.

1. If you want TWO GTX-1080 video-cards in one computer, an Area-51 would have been a better choice (due to cooling and power requirements). Obviously, you must have the optional 850w PowerSupply.
2. Yeah, pretty much. Your Aurora-R7 likely came with a clone of the MSI-Aero GTX-1080 OEM (a back-blower). If specs and physical cards mostly match, that is what I would try first.

850W is barely enough or slightly too small which is why the AREA 51 has 1500W power supply.
Bare Minimum for ONE card is 500W which means BARE MINIMUM For TWO CARDS is 1000W.
My Mac Pro Towers with 900W power supplies will reboot and crash with 2 1080 cards because its not enough power.
The way people get around this is to add a secondary power supply of 450W into the 5.25 inch Optical bay.
FSP boosters are gone now so this isn't really an option anymore.
