Aurora R7, internet issues

Hi,

I've recently noticed that the internet speeds on my desktop have been slower than usual. Internet speeds on my family member's laptops are 100Mbps+ while mine ranges from 0 - 30Mbps (location is not an issue because my laptop gets 100Mpbs at the same spot). And for some reason, my upload speeds are faster than my download speeds (upload is around 50-60Mbps). I've also noticed interestingly that when I switch to 2.4GHZ, I get a steady 40Mbps download and 50Mbps upload. I've tried and followed a bunch of advices on the internet

- updating drivers, resetting the network settings, resetting the router, using TCPoptimizer, run all the anti virus, malware and spyware applications etc but nothing seems to help.

Any ideas as to what might be slowing my desktop down?

are you using the same measuring app across devices, such as speed test?  are these tests done on same day at same time?

- Yes same speed test, same time, same location

do you have many devices connected on home network tuned into the 5G (I know most people prefer the 5G over 2.4G).

- Yes but none of the other devices on my 5g network experience this

when is the last time you reboot your modem and router?  If you reboot, does it make any difference?

- No difference on reboot

this is often an intriguing question. why one device wireless speed is slow while another seems normal.

Look up your R7 stock wireless card DP/N and maker. R7 spec:

  • QCA9377 (DW1810) 2.4GHz 150Mbps and 5GHz 433Mbps
  • QCA61x4A (DW1820) Up to 867 Mbps
  • Rivet 1535 (Killer) Up to 867 Mbps

Do you know which one you have?  compare to latest Dell recommendation including Intel vs Killer(by Qualcomm).  https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/help-me-choose/cp/hmc-wireless-cards-consumer

according to this review, at short range Intel performs better than Qualcomm (at long range the other way around).  https://www.pcworld.com/article/2045607/wi-fi-adapter-shootout-qualcomm-versus-intel-in-an-802-11-battle.html

when comparing various Dell wireless cards, 4 of these are 866Mbps:

  • Intel 7260AC
  • Intel 7265AC
  • Killer 1435
  • Killer 1535

The above is on wireless module.  The Ethernet NIC controller is on motherboard itself, a completely different game.  When you connect R7 to router via a physical Ethernet cable, vs laptop also connected via the same cable, how much download speed difference do you see?  R7 spec: Ethernet 10/100/1000 Mbps Killer E2500 Ethernet controller integrated on system board
