Aurora R7, power blinking 4 times

Alienware Aurora R7

Alienware Aurora R7

I have an Aurora R7. Last week I got a BSoD with the error message KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED. While talking to Windows tech support and trying to restart it in safe mode to diagnose the issue the computer started normally and worked fine until today. When I tried to start it up the lights came on but the computer did not boot up and the power button began a pattern of a blinking amber light that blinked 4 times, paused, then repeated. Anyone have an idea what has happened? Are the issues related and/or how do I fix it?

Diagnostic 4 blink code = Memory or RAM failure

Make sure you RAM modules are fully seated and locked in their slot. Consider changing your CR2032 coin cell battery.

Update: I just got back home tonight and out of curiosity tried to boot up the computer. I had not had a chance to try either of the remedies you suggested and yet, for the 2nd problem I've had with this computer, it seems to have miraculously fixed itself. Previously I had a BSoD and while on the phone with Microsoft tech support working through steps to fix it, it magically fixed that issue when I was preparing to do a reset/restore on it. And now this issue has fixed itself without any corrective measures from me (again). This is puzzling to me and begs me to ask if there isn't something else going on with the computer. Any ideas?

Tonight is Lunar New Year . . . I'm sure that has something to do with your miraculous recovery.

Happy New Year to all  !!!

@ProfessorW00d

i’ve had this same issue, swapped ram, swapped placement, swapped gpu, the blinks won’t go away and the pc won’t display anything. i’ve always switched whole displays and display cords, hdmi and everything.
