Aurora R7, replace motherboard with Aurora R11?

Alienware Aurora R7

Alienware Aurora R7

I have an Aurora R7 MoBo which is seemingly BIOS bricked. Shopping for replacements, I've found listings for the R11 that are comparable prices to the R7. Will the R11 fit in the R7 case, and is it a worthy upgrade for about $20 extra in price?

The Dell proprietary LED controller pinout for power switch and rest are different for R11 and R7, so you probably cannot use R7 power button to turn on R11 board.  R7 case led would not light up either.

That makes sense. If I want the power button and lights to work, am I stick with the R7 or is there another board I could upgrade to?

no user has completely mapped out LED controller pinout.  the link above has some power switch mapped out (anecdote only, not verified)

to try to put a non-R7 Dell board in R7 case is risky.  The Aurora case after R4 is too much proprietary.  many users end up selling the empty case because they can not upgrade in it.  Dell wants you to buy new pc and stops you from upgrading.
