Aurora R7, screen flicker first displaying images / video

Good morning,

I'm looking for some support. When I startup my Aurora R7, after letting windows load, and go onto something such as Facebook or YouTube, or if I launch a game first, my whole screen will sometimes screens flicker black for 3-7 seconds before coming back on. This is alarming me as there's also some shapes when it flickers like lines. I had this issue and a Windows startup issue recently which caused me to reset my whole computer to factory settings just the other day which seems to have resolved the startup issues. But this flickering is causing me quite some concern.

At first I thought it was just potentially display adapters switching as I seem to have 2: Intel UHD Graphics 630 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080.

Though I'm unsure of this now due to the glitching type images that flicker with the black screen for a moment.

I've been advised by Nvidia that it is possibly an issue with my PC switching between the 2 display adapters as I thought previously and have been asked to disable the Intel display adapter via BIOS but cannot find anywhere to do that in the BIOS, if anyone could help please?

Do you have any critical errors in reliability monitor when the screen flickers occur like a hardware failure or 141, or 117?

The R7 should auto disable intel uhd when a discrete GPU is plugged in.  You can verify, so if you plugged the monitor into the motherboard you would see just a black screen no video.  You will still see it in device manager, it's part of the CPU. The R7 doesn't have a switch to force pcie primary (that is automatic).  You can disable it in device manager but I wouldn't recommend that.

I can't do this I'm afraid as this is a prebuilt laptop.

Not that I am aware of.

I've been advised by Nvidia support now:

"Request you to kindly get in touch with your Motherboard manufacturer and they should be able to help you disable the onboard intel graphics adapter in the BIOS.

Will look forward for an update from you to assist you better."

So unless I can figure out how to do this and test it they're not going to help any further

You can't do this because the PC is already set to auto-disable onboard when you plug in a GPU.  There's no bios option to manually enable or disable display to onboard when you have a gpu in the R7, it's already not usable/ disabled and you can't change the default auto disable feature (unless the pc is malfunctioning you'd never get display there with a gpu plugged in).

"Not that I am aware of."

Type "reliability monitor" in the bottom left corner of the desktop and look for errors in the box that pops up...

Thank you for the information, I have used this to check for errors like you say and I can see a list of Hardware Errors

The Aurora R7 is a desktop though.

And yes you can, there is a displayport connection by the usb ports on the back of the desktop.

If you click on them, what errors do you see?  Depending on the error it could be the GPU or the Nvidia drivers for example.

If you F12 on boot, you can also run built in diagnostics on the hardware.

I am seeing LiveKernelEvent 141 and 117, mostly 141 out of the list.

Nevermind sorry, figured it out, installing now, I shall test and get back to you.

Ok I think that's fixable. One moment, I'll post back.
