Aurora R8, 512GB M.2 PCIe, is it big enough?
If I wanted to change the above to the 1tb size how do clone the OEM 512 with all its info to a new 970 M.2 PCIe? I'm not interested in a 2 drive system just 1 ssd thx

Not sure why you don't want a "2-drive" system.
A 512gb M.2 PCIe SSD is nice and you paid good money for it. I think most people would keep it and just install an 1tb 2.5inch SATA-3/600 SSD as D: (for data files, music, large games, etc.).

Macrium Reflect is an excellent free cloning/imaging program. I would suggest using that.

I have Macrium Reflect installed but on second thought I guess installing a second SSD is the best solution, actually never thought of the benefits of it, thx to you both for the help

They get quite large but this also makes them expensive.

I only have a 256gb Toshiba NVMe drive in my R7. It's fine for the most part as it really only hosts the operating system and certain applications. To compensate, I also have a 2TB mechanical drive, and a 1TB 2.5" SSD. The mechanical HD is used to store things that don't require quick read/write access like videos, photos, and some games. The 1TB SSD is used mostly for games.

If memory serves, it's a WD Blue and was installed in the machine by Dell. Now that I think about it, it may actually be a 1TB drive. I don't really use it much except to store data that doesn't require fast read/write speeds.

I'll chime in and say I have been very pleased with the WD Black drives. Been using them on business machines for about 5 years or so and they perform well and have had no failures yet. Bit more expensive but have a better warranty. I try to pick up a few when i find them on sale.
