Aurora R8, AWCC, "Predefined profiles missing" error

I just bought a brand new Aurora R8 this week, i7-9700k w/ RTX 2080.

When I first launched Alienware Command Center I saw two default overclock profiles. But then the program downloaded an update for itself and after that I get the error "Predefined profiles missing". I tried uninstalling Command Center and re-installing it but that didn't help.

How do I fix this? I've already got the latest BIOS and video card drivers.

Hi @Mango Tango,

Go to the BIOS > Advance > Performance Options > Overclocking: and make sure it is enable

You can also try uninstalling the current AWCC version and installing the previous version (5.2.24.0).

My AWCC also just "updated" and now I can't see (or load) any profiles. I am now running version 5.2.29.0

I have Overclocking Feature 'Enabled" in bios. (Core Over clocking level is left at disabled)

Where can I download an older version of AWCC, I don't see AWCC on the Dell Driver Download site.

Hi @Alienware-Eimy

I checked and I already have overclocking Enabled in BIOS. Same problem: "Predefined profiles missing".

Where do I find the previous version of Alien Command Center?

Also, whenever I run Alienware Command Center now, it keeps downloading an update for Alienware OC Controls v1.2.32.1210. It then pops up a window asking me if should it "Install" or "Extract".

I have no idea?

If I pick Install, it says "Setup Failed - There is already Alienware OC Controls in computer"

But if I pick Extract it wants me to select which folder to extract to. Again, I have no idea what the proper folder is?

Exactly the same error I am getting, I install AWCC from Windows Store, try to install OCC Controls, it errors out, saying OCC is already installed.

So I found AWCC on Dell Support and Installed it. Everything seems to be working now, I can see the profiles, etc.

Testing somethings, I seem to no longer be able to disable Overclocking in Bios. Every time I boot into windows, Bios is resetting to:-

Overclocking:- Enabled

Clocking Level:- Customization

Limit Overide:- 50

Single Core:- Disabled

Core Voltage:- Adaptive

Core Voltage Offset:- 0

Long / Short Duration PWR Limit :- 0

Is this normal ? What is going on !

I removed all traces of AWCC (again) and it's still resetting Bios back, even with I select 'Disable"

@Mango Tango,

Just in case here is the previous AWCC version 5.2.24.0 A00:

@Rince_X,

Regarding the BIOS not keeping the changes, are you saving them? Make sure you have the latest BIOS version.

@Rince_X

What version of AWCC did you install?

@Alienware-Eimy

Yeah I saved "Disabled" every time. I'd save and reset, even going in a second time to see if "disabled" was still saved. It was. I'd then boot into windows and something would trigger some OC. I even went as far as removing AWCC (uninstalled, removed folders and cleaned registry) and it would STILL reset Bios back to "Clocking Level:- Customization"  I am using the latest 1.0.1 Bios.

I reinstalled AWCC via Dell Support page and so far, It's keeping Bios OC disabled (I am currently not touching any form of OC) Although even though AWCC installed, it refuses to add a shortcut to my start menu and if I want to load it, I have to do it via windows store, AWCC and Launch.

@Mango

The version I used via Dell support is version :-  5.2.29.0

To "see it" you have to go to the drivers and downloads page, then "untick" the box. (Check to show drivers for your Service Tag. Uncheck to see more drivers available for your product model)

My experience with AWCC of late, is VERY hit and miss

Yet another update.

Finally think I got this all working again. The problem is I didn't realize when uninstalling things, Alienware Command Center and Alienware OC Controls are 2 different programs. And when you uninstall programs, there's also Alienware Command Center Suite listed.  So I just uninstalled all 3.  I then re-installed Alienware Command Center (latest version), and separately re-installed Alienware OC Controls (latest version).

It now appears to be back to normal. I see the profiles:

Hi @Alienware-Eimy

I'm still broken. Here is what happens.

Upon launching Alienware Command Center I get this message:

After it loads, I get this message:

I pick Extract and get this:

I click OK to extract to that folder, but still have no Overclock Profiles available. It's empty:

So I click Download Profiles and I get this error:

And I'm back to square one.
