Aurora R8, AWCC, thermal throttling

Question

Hello Everyone. First post here, so apologies if I miss something I got an Alienware Aurora R8 in June of last year as a gift from a techy loved one, and it's served me well until now. Important specs follow: 256GB NVME SSD 1TB Hard Drive 300GB Hard Drive(added about a month ago) 16GB of RAM at 2666MHz i5 9600k; 3.7GHz base clock, 4.4 max Overclock, if memory serves RTX 2060 Let me know if I missed something. So, here's what happened. About two weeks ago, AWCC started to not see my CPU. No thermals, no clock speed, no nothing. Screenshot attached. Soon after, I started to notice my CPU being maxed out way more then it reasonably should be. I was unable to pin it down. And then, about two days ago, I had task manager running, and noticed by CPU speed dropping as low as 2.02GHz under load. I also noticed that it was pretty hot. As such, I opened the case, dusted the thing out, and went on. Still persisted. So, I think the problem is with AWCC not seeing it and not ramping the fans up in turn. I have repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled both AWCC and the Alienware OC tool, I have checked my drivers, and I have flashed the BIOS. No luck. I have set up a manual fan speed curve in AWCC in the meantime, but I would like to have it back to normal. None of what I have found as helped. Appreciate the help in advance.   Screenshot:

Interesting, Have you tried MSI Afterburner to see if there is a differencce. Is it possible to get a pic of your fan curves?

Since you're still under the one year warranty, you could email tech support, since this is a Dell app.

I'd probably first look at my dell update history to see what updates if any were installed when it stopped working. Perhaps one of those can be rolled back.

How do you mean? I'm not familiar with Afterburner, so no. But what difference would it see?

You'd expect to see a really high number, not 0, for the CPU temperature if it were a poor paste job.

The quality of the thermal paste cannot stop a sensor reading from loading in AWCC.
