Aurora R8, PSU upgrade from 460W to 750/850W possible

Hello

I'm thinking of replacing my RTX2060 with one of the newer models like 3070/3080 or RX6800/6800XT

All of them require a stronger PSU as it is build in my Aurora R8 with 460W.

Can I use any PSU which got the right size ? Is there any Dell replacement PSU which can be orderd?

Kind regards,

Marc

You can contact Dell via chat to ask about ordering the delta ir huntkey 850w bronze that was sold with the R8, you won't get to choose which model they send.

Or you can get an aftermarket one like the evga g5 gold 850w other people use seasonic focus.

If you have a dvd drive you'll also need a 6 pin slimline sata to 15 pin power cable adapter.

If you get an aftermarket psu which has straight cables (like evga) you'll also need a right angle power cable extension.

The Dell power supplies are modular and have proprietary cables.

The 460 cables are not removable.

Optical drive has 15 pin sata to mini 6 pin sata power.
