Aurora R8, add third SSD

Hi there,

i have an R8 with 9900K, 16GB Ram and a 2080Ti. It shipped last year with 1x 512GB NVMe SSD. I later added an additional 256GB SATA SSD I had lying around so it’s currently got 2 SSDs.

My question is as follows. I have a spare empty 512GB NVMe SSD lying around I would ideally like to add, will this fit anywhere? I read somewhere that it wouldn’t be possible to add a second SSD of this type because of the large GPU but I thought there may be a way. Can anyone walk me through this?

thanks

Yes you can stick it in the lower x4 or x8 pcie slot with an adapter.  That's what I did

Thanks for the replies. You mention an adaptor, what would I need exactly? Thanks.

Thank you I will look for a UK equivalent, shouldn’t be too hard.

sorry for the stupid questions but any chance of a walkthrough of exactly what I’m doing? Let’s say I have the adapter and the SSD.

Pretty simply, take your spare 512 ssd, attach it to the adapter with a screw (same as the one on the motherboard) and then slide the adapter into the lower gpu slot as shown in my photo.
