Aurora R8, no video with i5-9600kf

I have purchased a barebone Dell alienware Aurora R8, added a brand new i5-9600kf, GTX 1660ti, 16gb ram, and it came with 460w psu. I know gpu worked with a different pc. I connected to the 6+2 pin. I tried with both hdmi and displayport, I don't see any output not even powering up from sleep. I hear both fans and also case rgb lights are on. Does this cpu not work? Please help.

Are you able to see anything if you remove any hard drives / SSDs from the system, boot without an OS, and immediately press F2 on startup to enter BIOs?

See if you plugged in a cable from the PSU to this power header (GPU_PWR) on the mobo. It's that one next to the words "IPCFL-SC/R".

Also are you getting any error codes (i.e., do you see any flashing on the alien head power button)?

@r72019 is correct. I forgot that cpu has no integrated gpu.  thanks for pointing that out.

1. Impossible with a 9600KF.  That is not supported by the CPU.

2.  All R8 models shipped with 9th gen compatibility, notwithstanding the general bios description in one of the later bios updates.

@Akashufl :

Shouldn't a barebone system at least come with a CPU? Or is this just mobo in a chassis? Did you see the seller show a pic of it booted and service tag in the pic? I presume this is one of those barebones R8 being sold on eBay.

Hi, I do see flashing and changing color of the power button and case lights as soon as I press the button. What should I do next?

It was a barebone without cpu or gpu

@r72019  I don't know how to check bios without display. Is it possible that I will need 9600k instead?

Does the power button and side panels light change from red to yellow to other colors and then stops at blue? Or just flashing non stop?

Just make sure you're also plugging the HDMI cable to the GPU HDMI output and not the motherboard IO HDMI.

The number of flashes before the pause for repeat tells you what is going on, or points you in the right direction:

If the computer fails the POST, the computer emits a series of LED codes in amber color during the start-up.

The following table shows different light patterns and what they indicate.

Table 1. Diagnostics.Number of Power LED flashes Problem description
1 System board: BIOS and ROM failure
2 No memory or RAM detected
3 System board or chipset error
4 Memory or RAM failure
5 CMOS battery failure
6 Video card or chip failure
7 CPU failure
3,6 BIOS recovery image not found
3,7 BIOS recovery image found but invalid
