Your going to have to roll back to the older BIOS firmware ...at the moment its the only solution to restore the power button to work as per normal.

Thank you for you reply and sorry to hear you are suffering from the same issue as well.

I did not try the 3 quickly button press (never knew to try that) but i know that going back to the old BIOS everything seems to be working perfectly again. I left my PC switched off for over 10 hours last night and this morning it powered on normally as it always did before 1.0.17 installed by it self.

You go to Dell's driver & software website and look from the BIOS driver from there.

I was watching the Dell Technician who had remote access to my system, he went to that site downloaded the BIOS (older) firmware, installed it and then restarted the computer.

Once it goes to restart the computer will also turn off/on multiple times as the file is being applied.

Mine turned on & off about 3-4 times in a row.

I've actually turned off my sleep mode while this issue is being investigated. Trying not to power the machine off as often.

I'm finding that if you unplug the USB's and other peripheral devices. Leaving just the power cord and monitor plugged in. After unplugging the power and clearing excess leftover power juice. Once you plug the power cord back into the PSU. If the USB's and other peripheral devices are unplugged. Then the power button should work. After which plugging the USB's and other peripheral devices back in works as normal.

Worth an attempt if still unable to power on.

I have exactly the same problem with my 2019 R8. It was working fine yesterday, and it wont turn on today. Went through troubleshoot process and PSU is fine, I almost thought I had motherboard problem LOL. Really glad I found this post! Pushing the power button repeatedly doesn't work for me. Will try the plug-in-while-holding-down-power-button then.

2019 R8 PC OK I unplug the USB's and other peripheral devices (even the monitor), powered off, unplugged everything, drained power. Plugged just the power, pressed & held that little button in the back, and the main power button. Fan / power cycled a couple of times, and finally it fully powered up. Plugged the monitor back, and other peripheral devices. So far working. Will aso try rolling back the Bios. At this point I am afraid to turn if off and will also set power setting to not go into sleep or power off for now. Going to see about rolling Bios back.

I don't know if this is a BIOS issues. Some have posted that this issue is because a BIOS up date but my system info shows BIOS Version/Date Alienware 1.0.17, 9/6/2021

But I have had no power issues until today 10-26-2021

The 3-click power button was inconsistent so I decided to roll back to 1.0.9 as Chris-WH mentioned.  The power button is now back to normal.  I wonder if I can flash to 1.1.16 now that the power button is restored - little hesitant to try however.

I have the exact same problem. No issues with the computer, saw there was a computer update. Turned off the computer, next day the power button acted like it's dead. I can hear the buzzing of the electricity from the power cable, but nothing on the tower actually turns on. It's a dud now, don't know what to do.

I posted on the second page the way to get the PC to power back on if you are suffering from the exact same situation i was.

Disconnect your power cord at the back of the tower.

Hold down for 25 seconds the alienware head power logo at the from of the machine.

Whilst still holding the power button down connect the power cord at the back of tower.

This should override and get the machine to power up and once its on obviously let go of the power button at the front.. It worked for me every time while we were diagnosing the problem with dell.

Once you get it powered back on you will most likely have to roll back to the older BIOS firmware. At the moment its the only workable solution i have found to work.
