Aurora R9, Corsair H100i?

Alienware Aurora R9

Alienware Aurora R9

Hey folks,

Wondering if the Alienware Aurora R9 is compatible with the Corsair H100i RGB ELITE?

Thanks!

Anything is compatible if you are brave enough! For a 240mm rad to fit in the Aurora R9 as a CPU cooler it would require substantial top chassis mods . . . but it has been done. An alternative would be external radiator configuration. I will drop some links later when I have access.

I appreciate you sharing those links. I really don't feel like spending a week ordering fittings, drilling holes and hoping not to destroy my tower to add this cooler in. I may just stick with air cooling and sell the H100i or hold onto it for a future build. Stinks there isn't a better way!

Hmmm... maybe that would be a better solution. I'm not worried about leaving the side panel off, and my tower sits under my desk and somewhat out of view anyway. I'm also questioning if it's even worth while, I don't really have any issues with temps... but it would be nice to extend the life of my CPU with better cooling.

Since you've already got the H100i you could install it, leaving the side panel off and just rest the radiator/fan assembly comfortably outside the case, if you are not a stickler for aesthetics. It would be function over form.

Your CPU will outlive you. I have CPU's that are 15 years old and run 24/7 on air cooling.

While I don't know the exact life span of a modern CPU, it's safe to say it will not fail for as long as you plan on using it. Upgrading to better cooling to extend the life of your CPU is not worth the money. time or effort in my opinion.

Might as well use it if you got it. From the Corsair web site it looks like the H100i tubes are nice and long, so you should be able to run them outside the case and find a nice resting position for the radiator. Since you are under a desk you may be able to fabricate some sort of 'rad hanger' or mounting mechanism using the desk.

Yep. A bot using something like ChatGPT to generate a response! We are seeing many of these. When found we ban and close the account.

Actually it's so advanced these days I am using ChatGPT to summarize and help me write legal documents. It saves me a ton of time compared to using the regular search functions of CanLII.

It can be very effective when used properly.

* Agreed! We know all of our virtual agents in this and other industry will partner with one of them. We are testing all of the current AI software.
