Aurora R9, Lag issues in games
Good Morning,
I am looking to get some help as to why my new Alienware Aurora R9 is lagging in multiple games. I am not sure as to why, especially since the specs should be able to run most games on High or Ultra.
Aurora R9-
i7 9th Gen
16GB Ram- Hyper X 8x2
RTX 2080 Super
512GB SSD/1TB SATA HDD
Windows 10 Pro
I also am running hardline ethernet with a 500MBPS internet speed with around 22.39ms.
Some of the games lagging-
DOTA 2
COD Warzone
Warcraft
Starcraft

It does include liquid cooling. PSU is 850W. GPU and CPU temps seem to stay around 35 degrees C.

Also I what nvidia drivers are you using?
I have been using the new one 460.89 and I’m actually pretty happy with it so far. I’m interested in what the big guns in here come up with. I hope you get it figured out.

I have the same system... so, is that 35c while gaming? Idle yes but while gaming my R9 cpu is @45c and gpu 70-75c with the help of msi afterburner.
35c while gaming doesn’t seem right. I’m also using a Cat6 Ethernet cable.

Just a thought, doesn't cost anything and you can change it back if it doesn't help, I remembered a few months back where folks were having problems "caused" by using Windows 10 game mode.
Perhaps try shutting it off

I also heard Ray Tracing causes lag too.
also check your nvidia control panel settings to make sure your monitors Hz values matches your in game monitor settings. I would also do a internet speed test too just to make sure. Does it lag in single player and/or multiplayer?
Im not a tech but I can assure you that the R9 with your specs which is close to mine is a gaming beast ! And should not have any probs with games what so ever.
