Upgrading R10 Ram with 16gb @ 3400mhz

Hello first off I'm new here and want to say hello. I have an R10 with 16gb (2x8) @@ 2933mhz. The timings are very loose and they run at cl19 / cl-20. I want better ram. I know officially 3400 MHz is the limit and that configurations for it are 16gb (16x1) or 32 (16x2) and so on. However I was wondering if anybody has tried to run 16gb (8x2) @3400mhz. I don't want to spend a lot of money to get 32gb of ram when I can just get a 16gb kit.
