X51 R2, display problems with Intel driver update
Hey all, first time here. I have an Alienware X51 R2 with Win 8.1, about five years old, very happy with it. Every few months, however, the Support Assistant pops up recommending that I update my Intel HD graphics driver. When I do this particular update, the screen gets completely wacky, the icons all scrambled over on the left side and no windows I open up are visible.
It acts as if I have two monitors and most of my desktop is being displayed off screen. I've never had a second monitor and my only solution has been to restore the system to a previous savepoint. I searched around on the google and couldn't find anything that helps, any suggestions?
This is the driver update:

You should uninstall the support assistant. You don't need it and it can cause problems like the incorrect update it recommended. There is no updated video driver for your model since the only one listed at Dell Downloads for 8.1 is from 5 years ago. https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/alienware-x51-r2/drivers

You can always manually download the OEM driver.

Thank you for the reply, I just won't worry about it then. I've noticed no problems playing games, which is what I primarily use it for.
