13r2 overheating and lockups question
Hi All,
I run a lot of heavy compute intensive jobs on my 13r2. The fan never came on - it just sort of locks up with the hard disk light persistently green. So I bumped it up to 32GB, turned off all swapping (so it's all running from memory) and it still locks up. Going into the BIOS - I turned on the Fan Performance option - and now it sounds like a jet engine all the time - which sort of <ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU> . So I downloaded HWinfo64 and created a fan profile.
However, it seems that the laptop has only three fan speeds... Low enough to just not matter, high enough to be annoying, and jet engine "why did I buy this<ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU>" annoying.
Win10 seems to not use the fan at all - at least with HWinfo64 I was able to set the fan speeds to come up when the processor exceeds 40 C... the thing is, that's not all that hot. (it's certainly not exhausting hot air). It would be nice if the fan speed was VARIABLE!
The max core temp on this thing is 100 C - so why the lockups? Why is Win10 not managing the heat?
Right now - with HWinfo64 controlling the fan it hasn't locked up yet - but if it does, than it's RMA time because I simply can't come back to a dead machine... (for the record, I do not have this problem with any of the MSI laptops I'm running - but they are super huge and I was hoping for something both powerful and portable)
Any suggestions on other things I can try?

Hi,
Update the BIOS version to the latest here. If the issue persists send me a PM with the service tag.
