3D emitter problem for M17X R3 Alienware Computer

I have taken the time to flush Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 from my system and revert back to an absolute clean install of Windows 7 Professional. My latest Nvidia driver listed on the Dell Support site is the Gfx _NV_P11_306.97_1FWD3_setup_ZPE which runs fine for my graphics and PhysX software. However, it does load the Nvidia 3D drivers but it says it can not initialize the internal 3D emitter. Please check the connection. I purchased a spare emitter and reinstalled it to see if this would correct the problem. Unfortunately, the results are the same even if I load the original 3D Nvidia driver that was used when the computer was new. Is this also related to the GTX 660M graphics card or will this persist if I use either the 260m or the 470m Nvidia cards?

Thanks for any help in this issue.

The only way to get 3D working was to reinstall the GTX 460M graphics card and flash the bios with the Dell Alienware bios.It works fine then.

The Nvidia driver 355.82 works fine with no bricking of the display. you need to load it in the

dell\drivers\1fwd3 directory where dell keeps there display driver. no problems and 3D works fine.

Thanks for your suggestion but the 3D driver from Nvidia works fine from the C:\Dell\rivers\1FWD3 driver  directory  as long as I use the GTX 460M card that is compatible with the chipset used on the M17x r3 motherboard. The GTX 660M will not support 3D no matter what I do. It will drive the graphics and PhysX but 3D is not an option until the R4 chipset. I guess I have a GTX 660M card for sale for an R4 if anyone needs it. I'll sell it for $185 and send it priority mail from Georgia USA. It took me 6 weeks to get it from China.

As far as drivers go you can use upto 344.75 from the NVidia website.

Anything after that and you risk bricking your display.
