5.1 or 7.1 Speaker connection to Alienware 17 R2 with Graphics Amplifier or direct

I currently have my old Logitech X-530 5.1 analog speaker system hooked into the headphone out port with minimal success.  The right front, center, left front and sub work in a stereo emulation but the rear set of left/right do not work.  I had to use a 3.5 (headphone out) "Y" cable to an old 5.1 Logitech adapter (RCA to 3.5 black/orange/green) to get this to work.  How is one to connect external speakers to this laptop?  Manual says to use both headphone and microphone out ports to achieve 5.1 setup but I don't see how to accomplish this.  It was much easier when you could just hook up the black/orange/green to the headphone/headphone/microphone in the older laptop as a direct connection.  Any help or direction of what some are doing will be greatly appreciated!

I use one similar to this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G28N6339

To have 5.1 surround sound you need to be able to plug in the Green(front), Black(Sub), Orange lines(rear).

To have 7.1 same as above but with two more speakers for the middle speakers.

This savvy little device will get that job done, drivers will auto install if you have Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.

EXCELLENT!  I assume this is powered by the USB connection.  Thanks for the help.
