8 Beep Code after replacing LCD Monitor and cable on M17X R5

Hello all,

I'm pretty tech savvy but this issue has me stuck. Here's the long story...I'm working on someone's Alienware machine and they told me that they tried to replace the LCD screen and that the computer would not boot up since then.  When I got the laptop I noticed that every time I plugged in the AC Adapter to the computer, the adapter would short.  The same issue occurred with a new AC Adapter as well.  After further investigation, I noticed that the connection on the back of the LCD screen was not all the way in.  When I removed it, some of the pins on the connector were broken.  I ordered a new lcd cable and LCD monitor just to be safe and when I went to replace it, I got a white screen with an 8 beep code.  This MB seems to have two places to plug in a LCD.  When I plug it into the top port, I get the 8 beep code.  When I plug it into the bottom port, I just get a white screen.  I put in the old screen and had the same issue so I thought I fixed half of the issue by replacing the cable.  I did some more investigating and noticed that a graphics card was installed on the bottom.  Removing that card resulted in the same issue.  I ended up swapping out the motherboard with another one as a last resort and the issue exists with the other motherboard too!  I'm out of options at this point and need help.

I did notice that after replacing the motherboard the beep code still exists but I am no longer getting a white screen when plugged in the top port.  I also noticed that the fans shut off after 2 seconds.  When I plug the LCD cable into the bottom port, there are no beep codes and the fans remain on.

What else is weird is that I tried connecting an external monitor when the cable was plugged into the bottom port and the monitor went into a loop of turning green like it was receiving a signal and then going out after about 5 seconds.

I don't think the resetting the CMOS battery trick would work because if that was the case the replacement motherboard should have solved that issue I would think.  Holding down D or the Fn key during boot did nothing.  Please help...I've been working on this computer for weeks and would hate to give up.

I am also having this same issue although I didn't replace the lcd.  My lcd would display something and other times it wouldn't.  I would just have to power cycle it until it did.  The backlight always came on no matter what.  Well about a week ago, it wouldn't do anything after power up just the 8 beeps.  I tried the external monitor, cmos reset, no battery power on, I unplugged and replugged in the lcd cable, I tied taking the video card out and booting up without, I re-seated the video card, I have replaced the motherboard and still can't get this thing to work.  I even moved the lcd cable from the lvd5 port to the edp port like myhrcg did above and it does the same thing his did.  I have no idea what to do at this point.  I am so frustrated with this $3000 brick that only lasted 4 years.  What else can I do to fix this thing.
