Hi joshholt89‌,

Yes, 8 beeps refers to a problem with the LCD (LCD cable) but sometimes it could be the video card as well.

  • Try resetting the LCD cable.
  • Also, if the system has dual video cards, you can try with one video card at a time.

Let me know!

Right finally got round to it today I tried resetting the lcd cable first coz it's the easiest and to no avail typically so I'll gonna try switching the graphics cards I shall let u know how I get on I pray it works!

yes. everytime you remove the parts. and be careful which paste you're using. it should have no metal particles in it. otherwise you could short out the components..

Would there be a specific brand of paste you would recommend ? And could the fact that the paste had dried be the reason for all this in the first place? And thanks for the help guys it's much appreciated

sorry. i can't recommend you anything. the reason is, i don't know how much space there is between GPU and Heatspreader. you might need cooling pads instead of paste. better wait for Alienware-Eimy to answer this question. i just wanted to make sure you don't mess around with stuff like liquid metal and such.

We recommend any Diamond Grade paste. IC Diamond/Arctic Silver are great and yes, it does need replacement.

My M18X did the same thing, black with 8 beeps. I could not get any video on TV either. I removed the master GPU and presto, it works.
