AC Adapter currently connected is not supported?

Hey, well yeah I've had my M17x R3 for a while now, and whenever I boot the laptop I get a message that says something like "AC Adapter currently connected is not supported, connect a Dell AC Adapter for optimal performance", I can't remember exactly what it says, but it's similar to that. I thought I had fixed the problem when it first occurred last month, by removing the battery and adapter and putting them back in. 

I have tried almost everything. I'd be more than happy to provide more details on this issue if anyone can help me out. :/
