ALW 18 No Display. Beeps continuously. Keyboard lights up

Dear friends,

I purchased my Alienware 18 back in 2014 from Amazon [Service Tag: ] and now it’s giving me trouble. I’ll summarize my problem to the shortest.

Back in Jan 2016, my laptop started to give constant beeps in the startup, without lighting up the display. Keyboard lights up. And all what I hear is the beeps.

It happened once during that time and when I forced shut down the laptop and rebooted it was fine. No beeps. Boot up fine.

However this startup freezing became more frequent with time but I ignored it since I was able to boot the laptop after force shut-downing with holding the power key until everything stops.

But today it won’t boot even trying after holding down the power button. Display won’t turn on. Keyboard lights up. Continuous beeps. That’s it. Why am I having these? Can anyone guess what is wrong?

Hi,

It could be an issue with the Hard Drive. Did you ever run any type of diagnostics test? Try doing a power drain, follow the steps below to do a power drain.

  • Turn the system off and disconnect the AC adapter.
  • Disconnect the battery.
  • Disconnect all external devices (USB devices, headsets, external monitors, etc.)
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Connect everything again and turn on the system.

Last time when the beeps became frequent I managed to do all the diagnostics with the aid of Support Assist and yet it showed me all the things were doing fine. Power drain didn't work too. According to the beep codes I believe I'm having a motherboard issue.

Hey mate thank you the reply in my post. I'm willing to take my laptop in to Singapore Alienware, during my 2 week stay @ Singapore. Can you please provide me some emails of the personnel who can get my problem solved? Phone numbers on the Dell SG site quite didn't work out for me since they couldn't understand my English accent quite well. If you can provide me a list of emails of the relevant parties then I'll be able to get some background info from them on how to get my laptop repaired. Hope you'd help me out. Thank You!

Can you please let me know the part number of the motherboard of my laptop? So that I can get it fixed with the local Dell agent. They currently don't have the motherboard with them so they say that it will take around 8 weeks for them to bring the motherboard here. I'm visiting Singapore next week so that I can bring the part if I have the part number with me. Thank You!
