AlienFX Controller only working with admin rights.
A while ago my M14x-R1 BSoD-ed on me due to a faulty driver from a flash drive getting installed. It wouldn't even boot up in Safe mode. W7 prompted me to pick a restore point or let it do its 'rollback(?)' on the System Recovery page. Since I figured it was a small issue, I opted for the rollback. The AlienFX Controller now only works when I run it with administrator rights. Is there any way I can get it back to the original state? (w/o having to put it in admin mode all the time)

Hello eissern,
You can either go back to factory settings using AlienRespawn:
How to use AlienRespawn?
Or you can re install the command center:
How to uninstall and reinstall the Alienware Command Center?

I tried the 2nd option, but no go on that. Is there any other choice other than resetting my laptop to factory state? I've tested the LEDs with the FXtester and it works fine. The controller tells me that it has a problem communicating with the laptop, but this doesn't happen while it's running with admin rights.

Type on the start menu's search box "UAC", and hit enter.
And lower the User Account Controls, restart the computer and test it.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi Natalia,
I tried what you ask, but the FX Controller still can't get the LEDs to light up. I still have to right-click > run as admin before anything happens with the LEDs

Try this:
1. On the start menu's search box type services.msc and hit enter.
2. Find on the list the application called ''Alienware Fusion Service'', right click on it and select "properties"
3. Go to the "Log on" tab and under "Log on as:" select "This account"
4. Type "NT AUTHORITY\LocalService" in the box and then confirm your password.
5. Re start the computer, and test it.

Unfortunately that didn't seem to do anything. Still stuck on the right-click > run as admin stage.

The thing is, when I first got my laptop, there wasn't any need to for the FX Controller to be put on admin rights. It'll run as per normal, 'Go Light' doesn't return me an error like it's doing now.
I guess it wasn't exactly a 'rollback' then, W7 just got rid of the guilty driver that was installed before the BSoD. Nothing else was affected.

I thought nothing else was affected* Although my FX Controller quitting on me seems to suggest otherwise.

I did a clean install of AWCC already, but that didn't seem to fix my problem.

eissern, I'm not really sure what's going on here, I'll try to do a bit more research, but you should really start considering restoring back to factory settings...

Alright! Thanks for the help you've provided me from the start though. Will need to be back-up all my files and data before going anywhere near the restore.
