Alienware 14 R3 Memory Upgrade

Hi,

i've a new Alienware 14 R3 with 8gb DDR3L memory (2x4gb memory stick).

I would upgrade with 2 stick of 8gb DDR3 memory.

Are there any way to make them compatible, like a bios upgrade ?

thanks.

Hi salvo82,

We do not have any system by the name Alienware 14 R3. The 14" Alienware systems that we have are:

  • Alienware M14x
  • Alienware M14x R2
  • Alienware 14 R1 (Brand New)

Please let me know which model in specific do you need help in so that I can further assist you.

Hi salvo82,

It's alright. No problem.

Alienware 14 R1 supports upto a maximum RAM of 16GB at 1600MHz, but you would have to use Dual-Channel DDR3L memory modules as DDR3 is not compatible with this computer. The BIOS of this computer does support, but its recommended to update the BIOS to the latest version before upgrading any hardware. So to download the BIOS for Alienware 14 R1, click here.

Note : Unplug any peripherals from the computer before updating the BIOS. Do not run any applications in the background. Make sure the AC Adapter is plugged in and the battery charge is above 10% to update the BIOS

Hope this helps.

Hi there!

I have the same issue to address - if it is possible to upgrade Alienware 14 R1 with 8GB memory to 16GB memory?

Are there some important issues I need to follow?

Thank you in advance!
