Alienware 15 Bios Error 8772

Good Afternoon,

I have some problems, my laptop Alienware 15 (2015) has some difficulties to start sometimes on the boot logo.
I mean sometimes it will stay with the "Alienware logo" doing nothing, just shoot down 20 secondes later, or sometimes will take 2 or 3 minutes to start on the boot Windows logo, with HDD led going crazy like it was searching for something before turn on the led Wifi...

I tried all BIOS (A00, A02, A03 and A04) all same, and all with a file error created during the flash on the desktop saying "Error 8772: Invalid usage, -allowsv switch requiered to update the same version firmware" (the file disappear after the laptop restarted).

What does that mean ?
I tried to chat with Dell Support in my country but instead of reinstalling Windows or Bios they don't know what to do, and i don't want to loose an other day....

Thank you :):)

Have you tried to run the hardware diagnostic (PSA)?

Thank you for taking time on my post :)

I have tried ePSA, no problem found. Dell France is going to send me an USB key with Windows 8.1, they think my Windows Recovery is corrupted, this is possible ?

This is very strange, i don't understand my problem... sometimes my laptop is going to start normaly (rarely), but most of time logo Alienware and then nothing, or may be Windows is loading (with Alienware logo) and sudently black screen, just the SSD/HDD led turn on.

What my computer is doing, what is the error during the boot ? Is there any software to know the issue during boot ?

Yes there is a big possibility that windows is corrupted. As soon as you get the USB install windows and let us know if this fixes the issue.

i tried Windows 10 and 8.1 same issue (clean install). But when i try Windows 7 (in legacy +AHCI) no more issue.

i saw that my Toshiba HDD seems to be the faulty ! Windows always takes time to recognize it. I got Kernel Panic PnP 400 and 410. What do You think ? :)

here is my bios settings (photo)

Just to be sure i took a photo during flashing bios, all went green except the Nvram bar (did'nt see it, already reboot before getting green, normal ?)

My main problem now instead of the Error 8772, is  : that my HDD is not always recognise in Windows :/

In the bios no problem, i can see my SSD and my HDD, but in Windows sometimes Yes sometimes No, don't know why.

Here is the picture when i'm able to see my HDD (something is wrong for you ?)

Finaly, rebooting the system is quite fast (around 30 secondes before getting to the log in), but if i turn off completly and put on, i will wait around 2 minutes on this page :

Only the HDD led is on, and stay on for 2 minutes, like the system is trying to do something....

thank you in advance :)

Hi Judal7837, thanks for tour help. Unfortunately i already made Bios default setting and already tried to reintall it with the "driver bios". I shoudn't have done the update from A03 to A04.

Any idea to perform a Clear CMOS on Alienware 15 (2015) ?

How can i know what Windows is doing during the 2 minutes boot ?

Problem solved, thanks JUDAL7837 !

I put AHCI in the bios (SATA OPERATION), but i couldn't boot my Windows 8.1, so i decided to reinstall again Windows xD but no more problem now !

For me, after all that, when i tried to install Intel Rapid Storage Driver, problem came back...so i'm running my laptop in AHCI and without the Intel Driver Rapid Storage blabla...

Hello DASHING_97,

What you have to do is simple.

You put the bios file .exe on an USB key. You reboot your laptop and press F12 and then select Bios Flash Update in the menu. When you are in the Gset Bios, you can move with the key TAB and select the file by pressing ENTER, then you will have the "Flash Upgrade" button becoming bleu.

Hope i was clear :)
