Alienware 15 r3 Freezing

Guys, Im heaving problem with my new Alienware 15 r3
Nvidea 1060
i7
128SSD + 1TB
16GB RAM
I just bought it hoping to have a good perfomance in-game
But for some reason my computer is having random fps drops in all games I played, and playing CSGO, suddenly it freezes.
Does anyone here have a clue why?

Hi,

Update the Bios version to the latest here:

Also, try the latest video driver from our website (just enter the service tag), under Drivers and Downloads > Video tab.

Let me know!

So, I updated my BIOS as you said (I think I already had the same version)

I took the lastest video drivers from the test in your website.

And my game still freezes, when I entered in the game, the game sent me a message saying I have Game DVR turned on in my computer and that was causing problems for the players, I should turn off to have a better perfomance.

I turned it off (Game DVR) but nothing change

And I note I cant put the game in the compatibility section with W10, it just give W8.1 and other bellow as option

Try running a video card stress test. Follow the steps below to do this.

  • Open Support Assist
  • Click on the Checkup option
  • Click Run Custom Scan
  • Click on the Nvidia/AMD card
  • Select the Stress Test option

If you do not have Support Assist installed, click here for the download link. Let me know how high the GPU temperature goes in the stress test.

One thing I learned is that the stress test recommended by the alienware support person does not bring the CPU near the levels that most games do.  I used a temp monitor, that was recommended be on one of dells troubleshooting pages, and saw that my CPU cores were getting way too hot while gaming. There is a pretty common issue with overheating CPUs on these systems. Might be worth looking into.

Right. Try OCCT (Power Supply Test).

If you want HDD/SSD going at the same time, start a Windows Defender Full-Scan first.

But do you thinks this can be the problem?

FPS dropping because of the overheating?

For example, when I play league, my fps just suddenly goes from 200 to 40 which freezes my screen for around a second and then just jumps back up to 200.

The FPS drops is true for my CSGO too, but also, sometimes the game just freezes, when u look at the task manager, appears "not responding"

Any idea on why this is happening and how to fix this?

Do u think that can be caused for a overheathing issue?

Complete hard-locks without a BSoD or Event Viewer entry written ... usually points to a hardware problem. Just sayin.

FPS dropping because of the overheating?

Possibly. Start CPUID HW-Monitor before you start gaming. After you finish, you will have Idle temps and Max temps during gaming to compare.
