Alienware 15R2 Weird Diagonal Screen split/ Tearing when gaming
When ever I game on this thing there is a weird diagonal rendering split in the screen from top left to bottom right every time the camera moves of I move in game.
The screen is displaying the correct scene but the diagonal divide is very noticeable.
I tried capturing the defect in FRAP's but neither Video not Screen Caps show anything wrong. When recording the Divide diapered with a small dip in frame rate So I'm sure it's just a stetting/ Driver issue.
The games I play that have this problem are Street Fighter 4 & Kotor 2. (Really old games)
When gaming in tab mode the divide is only from the 2 diagonal corners & not the whole screen.
Any one have a course of action for me?

Hi,
Have you tried connecting an external monitor to the system to confirm if you see the same type of issue on the external display? Have you reinstalled the video card drivers?

Hi,
I won't have access to an external monitor until Saturday but I'll check it then.
As for uninstalling + reinstalling the drivers: would you recommend using the display driver uninstaller for the uninstall, then downloading the newest version of the 970m from Nvdia's website?
I've never uninstalled the graphics driver so I just want to be sure I don't botch anything.
Or if you can recommend an easier alternative I'd appreciate the advice.
Thanks

I reinstalled updated 970m drivers from Nvdia's website but the rendering split in the screen from top left to bottom right still there.
Would a picture of the screen split help?

Yes, we recommend using the latest NVidia driver from their website. Yes, maybe it will help if you post a screenshot of the issue.

Hi, have you guys managed to solve this problem?
My AW15R2 (i7-6820HK, GTX 980M) seems to have the exact same issue. I've put up a post in the GeForce forum (forums.geforce.com/.../diagonal-screen-tearing-issues-on-gtx-860m-870m-960m-965m-970m-980m-), where I've written down when this problem happens and the test results using an external monitor. I've tried to capture it with a screenshot but it doesn't show up in the captured image. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello CharmanderAlpha, sadly I had no luck fixing the issue & I tried pretty much everything. Reinstalled Windows 10, Drivers, Chip sets, steam & the games themselves but I had no luck.
With newer games like fallout 4 I had no issues. It's the older ones that are the problem. I'll post a picture of the tearing soon to show the issue.

Here is the picture of the Diagonal screen tear. I know its not the best but Direct capture via FRAPS doesn't show it & this was the best picture I took that illustrates the problem.
It looks minute here but Its incredibly jarring in the games that it shows up in.
Any suggestions?

Yeah, that image looks exactly like what I would get on my laptop, and likewise, I've tried a lot of things but no luck so far. I would very much like to know what people from Alienware have to say about this bug.

Having the same problem with brand new 17 R3 980M 8GB... I going to give it a day or two and RMA I guess. :(

getting exactly the same and the workarounds mentioned here didn't fix it for me.
On the screen's native 4k res, the tearing seems to be less, or at least less distracting, but still noticable.

Pressing FN+F7 (I/D GFX) and rebooting in performance mode, which disables the Intel GPU, fixed the problem for me.
