Alienware 17 1 year only ( Battery Issue. Plugged In, not charging )

My alienware 17 is new.  from 2 week ago it does not charge.  The problem start intermittent and I resolve it shutdown the laptop and power it again.  Now the system not charge again.

I already do:

Update Bios, Remove battery and press the power botton 30 second,  buy new power adapter and not resolve the problem.  Run all Dell test and everything pass correctly.

Any Recommendation?????

Did you make sure that the "Desktop Mode" is not enabled on your computer?

If the charger is allowing you keep your computer on regardless of whether there is a battery installed or not, it could be a battery issue.

In case you don't have Desktop Mode enabled, and you've either tried the battery on another computer. Or tried a different battery on your computer and it does charge. (Let me know if this is a possibility).
Please go ahead and send me your Service Tag and a Link to this thread via PM.

Hi Jose

Dessktop mode is disable and have the same problem .

I do not have another computer to test battery and the battery is very expensive to buy only to do a test.

Service Tag:

Battery is ok , because when I remove the battery the system said battery not detected.

Any other solution.

Understood.

And you've already flashed and updated the BIOS.

If you could send me your Service Tag Via PM, I might be able to see what else we could do.

Hey Jose, I am having the same problem. My battery charges to 43% and then stops. I check the Desktopo Mode and it is not enable.

NIC.AGUIRE88,

Same here, bro.  Laptop stops charging when it gets to 44%.  I don't have Desktop Mode enabled either.

And, it seemed to have happened out of no where.  I wasn't messing with the power setting or anything like that when this happened.  I don't recall ever changing the power settings except to change to High Performance when I first got the laptop.

Is there some sort of documentation for us to look for regarding this strange behavior?

Sorry to inform you pal, but I changed the battery.. Turns out that every time I used it the amount of energy in the battery was less and less, until it got to 0%. I was able to used my laptop only when it was plugged in. I took my laptop to an autorized Store for Dell PCs here in Bolivia and they told me that the battery overcharged (or something like that) and that it was impossible to fix. I ended up buying a new battery eventually. This is what happened to me, but I hope you can find a better solution. Good luck.
