Alienware 17-R2, 2015 edition, what are the RAM specifications?
Tried to upgrade from 8GB to 16GB. Ram is good cause it came from my Alienware 14. So it works but it WON'T work in my new 17. I cant seem to find the for sure ram specs anywhere. I've seen conflicting pages with ddr3 ddr3L, and ddr4. Which do I need for sure?

Needs DDR3L.

Ok... Whats the frequency? My other alienware was ddr3 1600.. Where can I find this info LISTED somewhere online ?

It is DDR3L PC12800, aka 1600 MHz.

N2M64 8GB,DDR3L,1600MHz,2RX8,S
NWMX1 4GB,DDR3L,1600MHz,2RX8,S
The online specifications page for each system show the ram =

Hi.. They DIDN"T use the same ram cause I SWITCHED the 16 from my alienware 14 to my new 17 r2 and it didnt work! I got the beep codes that pertain to ram issues... However, my alienware 17 r2 is the 2015 model, and the alienware 14 was the 2012 model... Does that change things?

Alienware 14 from 2012 is M14x R2 and uses DDR3

Alienware 17 R2 from 2015 uses DDR3L
downloads.dell.com/.../alienware-17-r2_reference guide_en-us.pdf
DDR3 cannot be used on DDR3L as 'L' is low voltage RAM and the BIOS will not recognize it.
It will give you the beep error for missing memory.
