Alienware 17 R3 device manager huge update lists.

I got this laptop about a month ago. I update all of the drivers in device manager last month. I checked today again. There are about 9 new updates.

Hi,

Have you already done the regular Windows updates?

You need to be careful updating components directly inside of device manager. Although some of those listing may have updates available, they have not been tested for compatibility with your machine setup and they can cause you machine to become unstable or un-bootable.

Word, should prob update every 6 months, every month is too insane

also there are new updates on dells website like the sb xfi driver software

I don't think windows update can run through all of device manager because some sort of windows problem..

I ran up full 8GB usage 75% through the list but task manager doesn't show a program with high MB use..

had to restart

Windows 10 update does not appear to update the hardware drivers. I am just glad that there is a new version for intel 530 gpu. Also everything runs fine with all the updates.

Hi,

Like CJJacobs mentioned, some of the driver updates may not be fully compatible with the system. I recommend you to keep it like it is. Let us know if you run into any problems with the drivers.

***, don't keep it how it is

The reason why Microsoft doesn't check it all is because it would bog the system down.
